Patient Profile

Age: 35 years
Occupation: Homemaker
Condition: Low back pain with radiating leg symptoms

Main Concern

The patient’s main concern was persistent lower back pain radiating into the legs, which was significantly interfering with her ability to perform routine household activities.

She found it difficult and painful to:

  • Stand or sit for prolonged periods
  • Bend repeatedly
  • Lift household items
  • Perform routine household chores
  • Cough or sneeze without experiencing increased pain

Over time, even normal household work left her exhausted and uncomfortable. Her daily routine had become restricted, and she felt that her life was becoming increasingly limited because of her back pain.

Clinical Findings

Her MRI showed a lumbar disc bulge with radicular pain. Clinical assessment suggested reduced core and spinal muscle strength along with reduced tolerance to physical activity and functional movements.

The focus was therefore placed on her clinical presentation and functional limitations, rather than relying solely on the MRI findings.

Rehabilitation Approach

The rehabilitation program was designed around her symptoms, physical limitations, and the demands of her daily routine.

Treatment focused on:

  • Therapeutic exercises
  • Core and spinal strengthening
  • Movement retraining
  • Gradual improvement in functional tolerance
  • Progressive return to household activities

The rehabilitation plan was modified and progressed according to her response to treatment.

The Outcome

With consistent rehabilitation, the patient experienced considerable improvement in her pain, strength, and ability to perform daily activities.

Activities that had previously been difficult- including prolonged standing, sitting, bending, lifting, and household work became much more manageable.

Most importantly, she was able to return to her household responsibilities with greater comfort and confidence.

Patient’s Perspective

For her, the biggest change was not simply having less pain, it was being able to get back to her normal life and perform the work that had once become difficult for her. Her testimonial reflected how significantly rehabilitation had changed her day-to-day life.
